General Overview
Archives Mandate
The Archives of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Toronto (ARCAT) has been given the responsibility through the Code of Canon Law and by the Archbishop of Toronto to maintain an archival holding of materials concerning the spiritual and temporal affairs of the Diocese as well as keeping safe the acts of the curia. The Archives is the official repository of records and materials in any form, created by the Archdiocese of Toronto.
Archives Mission
The purpose of ARCAT is to collect, preserve, and make available for research the official records of the Archdiocese of Toronto and those ancillary records which reflect the work of the church within the Archdiocese. ARCAT seeks to promote an understanding of the origins, aims and goals of the Archdiocese as reflected in the workings of the official Archdiocesan agencies, institutions and offices.
