Finish off your summer refreshed by joining us on retreat August 25-26. Sought-after retreat director Fr. Philip Chircop, SJ, will facilitate the weekend where we will be considering how to "be still" in our fast paced world so we can see God's light through all the neon.
For those wishing to come up the night before to unwind and settle in to the spirit of the retreat an overnight option is available. Cost (including lunch and breakfast or snack) is $50 for overnight (arrival on 25th @ 7 p.m.) or $20 for Saturday only (arrival on 26th @ 9:30 a.m.).

Capuchin Minister General
honoured by the Vatican
On Saturday, July 8, 2006, Bro. John Corriveau, Capuchin Minister General, received the international “Bonifacio VIII” Citta di Anagni award. Cardinal Paul Poupard, President of the Papal Council of Culture and Msgr. Angelo Comastri, Vicar General of the Holy Father for Vatican City conferred the award.
This award was established by the Bonifacian Academy in order to highlight the value of a culture that always has its goals set on peace. Various influential personages from the church and from the civil society have received this distinguished international award, among them Pope John Paul II in 2003 and Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, Prefect of the Congregation of Catholic Education in 2005.

Events of the Sisters of
Our Lady of Mount Carmel
The Sisters of Our Lady of Carmel are a contemplative and active religious congregation that was founded in Florence, Italy 1854. The Vatican has announced, the beatification of Mother Maria Teresa Scrilli, foundress of the Institute of Our Lady of Carmel will take place in Fiesole, Italy on October 8, 2006.
Saturday, September 9th, 2006 a Solemn Mass of Thanksgiving will be celebrated at St. Jane Frances Church at 5:00 pm., in honour of the 25th Anniversary of the Institute's first house in Toronto. A reception will be held immediately after the conclusion of the mass in the parish hall.
Friday, October 27th, 2006 a Dinner/Silent Auction will be held at the Montecassino Banquet Hall at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds, from this celebration goes to the Carmelite Missions to enable them to continue the great works of assisting those less fortunate, specifically the children.

Musician/Choir Director Needed
St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic parish, located at 1701 Bloor Street West (Keele subway) is looking for a lead singer/choir director to lead our Contemporary Choir (guitar, string bass and keyboard accompaniment) at the 10:00 am Sunday worship. This is a paying position, beginning September 2006.
Responsibilities include the selection of appropriate liturgical music for the weekly liturgy; introducing and teaching new musical selections; organizing times for rehearsals; occasional participation in special sacramental events such as First Communion and Confirmation, and the seasonal celebrations of Christmas and Easter; leading the parish community in worship on Sunday mornings.

The organizers of the International Festival of Religious Song - Mississauga 2006 invite you to the 17th annual event, taking place this year in November.
Each contestant will prepare two songs, one of which must conform to the Festival theme: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” (John 3:16)
The Festival is organized by Catholic Youth Studio – KSM Inc. and St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish. Submissions will be accepted until September 15, 2006, and can be sent to: Catholic Youth Studio, 183 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto, Ontario M6R 2L5.
